What Does Mean to be a “Resident of Nowhere”
Being a “tax nomad” or “resident of nowhere” means arranging your life so that you are not tax-resident in any country. No nation claims you as a tax resident, and therefore no country taxes your worldwide income by virtue of residency. This concept—popular among perpetual travelers and digital nomads—relies on avoiding the usual criteria that establish tax residency (such as spending too many days in one country or having a primary home or family there). In theory, a person could keep moving and spend insufficient time in any one country to be considered its tax resident, effectively being “tax resident nowhere.” This idea has existed for years (sometimes called the “perpetual traveler” strategy) .
